SPRING '09 NEWS: We've been in the studio, working hard to get our next CD ready for release - - - and suddenly, here it is MAY!
"WHATCHA GONNA DO" SET FOR SEPT. 15 RELEASE: The hard work and focus have paid off, because the recording of Whatcha Gonna Do is complete. Now we're working with Rounder Records toward a Sept. 15 release date! Many of the songs on this project feature contemporary-bent arrangements, using the talents of Jim, Jason and Mark of the CLB almost exclusively. If you follow this link, you'll recognize Mark Schatz in a studio moment of "impromptu percussion" with guest, Kenny Malone: Slap & Thump.
ABMA Hall of Fame! The bluegrass community of Alabama honored me with an induction to their newly-formed Alabama Bluegrass Music Association's Hall of Fame on March 20, 2009. I shared the acclaim with Alabama greats Charlie Louvin, Three on a String, Jake Landers, Gary Waldrep and Jerry and Mae Hinton.
MANDO BOUNCE! Here's a fun CLB performance at Joe Val Bluegrass Festival in Massachusetts playing Jim's tune, Mando Bounce (or "The Man Don't Bounce" as some folks have mistakenly called it!) (video courtesy of Steve Ide). Not seeing the video screen below? More CLB news is here. Stay tuned for updates on our forthcoming project: we're digging deep to make it our best album yet!
