Claire Lynch...November 2007 Newsletter

Greetings, friends!
We've been hitting it hard with extended trips out on the road, and the IBMA World of Bluegrass was scrunched in between! Wow, a lot of excitement and we're ready to breathe, now.

Just in time for IBMA's World of Bluegrass, the hefty team at Rounder Records managed to juggle the release of my new cd, "Crowd Favorites: A Claire Lynch Collection". I'm so grateful - it made our presence at IBMA extra fun, and the FanFest crowd helped put it on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart, debuting at #10 its first week!

Missy Takes #7, and a Blast with Opry Member Bobby Osborne

Speaking of "presence": it was good to be present at the 2007 IBMA Awards show. I had a blast presenting the "Song of the Year" and "Mandolin Player of the Year" awards with the legendary Bobby Osborne.

And congrats to bandmate Missy Raines for her 7th win for Bass Player of the Year! She's my pick any and every year! As one fan wrote, "She's the Baroness of Bassists, the Dutchess of Doghouses: MISSY REIGNS!"

Crowd Favorites by Claire LynchEarly Reviews
and did we mention the Billboard Chart? top of page

Claire Lynch is one of acoustic music's greatest assets. Her voice is as stimulating as the first sip from a cup of freshly brewed coffee on a cold winter morning. It is an elegant retrospective of her career.
Charles Haymes, Cabot Star Herald

Everybody toasts label mate Alison Krauss but Lynch is no warmed over chopped liver when it comes to hitting the bluegrass/back porch/down home circuit herself. A standard bearer of progressive moves, this multi-talented heavy hitter has long known how to turn it up a notch and this collection drawn from her Rounder glories is nothing but high spots.
Chris Spector, Midwest Record

Best-of from one of the finest singers in bluegrass.
Mike Regenstreif, Montreal Gazette

If you've yet to hear Claire Lynch, this is a way to check in on what Ronstadt, Mattea, Patty Loveless, John Starling, and others have heard; if you already know her work, you'll find old friends among these crowd favorites, ones well worth spending time with again.
Kerry Dexter, Folkwax.com

But our earliest and favorite "review" came from all of you who cast a pocketbook vote that splashed us on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart. Many thanks!

CLB+Jesse & Jonathan

Congratulations to the Florida Museum of Natural History on the resounding success of their new "ButterflyFest" in Gainesville. We had soooo much fun. Jesse Winchester and Jonathan Edwards were there along with Jimmy Ibbotson and, of course, the CLB. After a longstanding interest in and respect for my co-performers' careers, I finally had a chance to get to know them. How delightful!

A Station Inn Event Not to Be Missed

Here's some news: We have the rare privilege of combining our show with dobro legend Mike Auldridge in conjunction with ResoSummit in Nashville later this week. Mike Auldridge was just awarded the IBMA's Distinguished Achievement Award, and his work with The Seldom Scene, Emmylou Harris, John Starling & Carolina Star and more is amazing. This is not a show to miss! Catch this special performance at The Station Inn on Saturday, Nov. 10.

Upcoming Performances top of page

Please come and be part of the fun at any of our upcoming shows: a joyous return to Tuscaloosa, Alabama where my entire career began, my first appearance at the Laurel Theater in Knoxville, and a "four-towns-in-four-days" trip to northern California - what a hoot!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Have a wonderful holiday, and don't forget to count your blessings!
